Abstract

A scroll has an elongate casing (1) within which a tubular core (3) support is mounted. A longitudinal key slot (4) of the tubular core support receives and keys with a complementary edge member extending along a marginal edge of a flexible substrate (120) bearing a map, or other illustration or information, thereby enabling the flexible substrate to be mounted to the support for winding thereabout. The casing is closed at one end and the tubular support is coupled to that end of the casing in a manner allowing rotation of the tubular support about its axis relative to the casing. Means associated with the tubular support serves as an anchor for one end of a spring mounted within the tubular support. The other end of the tubular support is coupled to the casing in a manner allowing the above said rotation, and provided with an end member to which the other end of the spring is coupled.
