Abstract

220,885. Jones, J. R. Jan. 11, 1924. Retaining devices below closure.-A cover for jars &c., adapted to fit vessels of different sizes, is provided with a pair of downwardly projecting pins 4 movable in radial slots and urged outwardly to bear against the wall of the vessel by means of an S-shaped spring 3 mounted on a central pin 2. The pins have extensions 6 projecting at the upper side of the cover, by means of which they can be retracted. A divided indiarubber washer suitably held in an annular recess 8, or equivalent means, serves to seal the radial slots against, ingress of dust &c.
