Abstract
220,230. Rousseau, G. E. C. Jan. 21, 1924. Roller-and-ring mills. - An ore-crusher comprises a rotating drum containing a crushing- wheel gravitating to the lower side of the drum, with means for feeding ore between the periphery of the wheel and the rim of the drum, and a floating crushing-element between the wheel and the rim at a point opposite the point where the ore is introduced. The floating member may be in the form of a wedge or triangular block. The drum, Figs. 2 and 3, which consists of inner and outer rings 20, 21 and side-discs 29, is supported and guided on rollers 16, 25 carried by shafts mounted in bearings on cement blocks 10, 11, 13. Gear-teeth 22 on the outer ring 21 mesh with a wheel 19, the trunnions 18 of which are supported in bearing-blocks on the block 13. The peripheral edge-portions of the discs 29 extend beyond the periphery of the ring 21 and lie against the outer side-faces of the rollers 16, 25. Elongated openings 31 in the discs 29 are fitted with screens 32 and cover-plates 33. The crushing-wheel 34 is composed of renewable segmental blocks 38 with spaced lugs 39 straddling a rim 36 to which they are secured by bolts 40. The rim 36 is connected by spokes 37 to a hub 35 carried by a shaft 41 which projects through the openings 30 in the discs 29 and is mounted in bearings 43' that can slide in slots 43 in uprights 42 secured to the block 11. The driving-shaft 46, carried by an upright 45 is connected at its inner end by a universal joint 44 to the shaft 41 and carries at its outer end a wheel 47 gearing with a wheel 48 on the shaft 18. The feed-hopper 50 is supported on uprights 51 and provided at the bottom with two spouts 52 which extend into the openings 30 and connect with troughs or shoots 53 extending downwardly and forwardly to points over the space between the wheel 34 and the ring 20. The floating wedge or block 54 is disposed at a point approximately opposite the point at which the ore leaves the two troughs 53.
