Abstract
219,773. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., and Drake, T. June 8, 1923. Assembling matrices.-In assembling-mechanism of the type in which matrices are received on a continuously-operated assembler-belt, by which they are delivered to a star-wheel rotated about an axis parallel with those of the belt pulleys, and wherein the assembler-belt is in fixed relation with its operating means, the belt is positively driven through geared connections from a rotating shaft, in order to avoid variations in its speed. In the arrangement described, the lower pulley 1 of the belt 2 is driven from the known intermediate shaft 9 through two shafts 13, 16 and helical gearing. A friction clutch is interposed between the shafts 9, 13, and antifriction thrustbearings are provided for the shafts 13. 16.
