Abstract

Bulkheads; compartments; tanks and bunkers. -The hull is formed with an outer skin 8 which inclines inwardly from substantially the water line 9 both towards the deck and the bilge. The inner skin 21, Fig. 7, extends from the deck to the double bottom of which it forms the outer margin, angle irons 24, 25 securing the inner skin to the top of the ballast tank and to the bottom shell plating 22 which is continuous with the outer skin, whilst the top of the ballast tank extends to the outer skin.
