Leader gear and other arrangements for assisting navigation.-A submarine electric cable carrying spaced electromagnetic sound emitters, for enabling ships &c. to determine their position and direction of movement, may serve also for electromagnetic guiding in conjunction with induction frames on the ship. The cable comprises separate conductors supplying various groups of emitters, so that the sound waves may be generated in each group with different rhythms and with different ranges. It may be laid in the form of a loop, or otherwise.
