Abstract
A support frame for a flexible refuse receptacle comprises a first frame portion 16 having brackets 12 for mounting the support frame on a trolley, wall or upright frame. A second frame portion 17 is movably attached to the first frame portion 16 by means of screwing bolts 9 and nuts 10. The second frame portion is attachable to the first frame portion at various positions so as to adjust the size of the aperture formed by the two frame portions for receiving the flexible refuse receptacle. The second frame portion is pivotable relative to the first frame portion for ease of attachment of the flexible refuse receptacle to the frame; the flexible defuse receptacle being held relative to the support frame by a friction fit therebetween. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Easy-stretch-bin
This invention relates to a domestic (or industrial) refuse container
Refuse containers are well known to everyone, and are made in many shapes and sizes, most of which have some form of lid or cover, they can stand upright on the ground, or either secured to wall, or as a trolley with wheels to enable it to be pushed around. The refuse container described as EASY-STRETCH-BIN, consists of a rectangular shaped lid which is hinged to a supporting "S" shaped brackets, these brackets in turn are attached to a solid steel bar rectangular "L" shaped each end, the full rectangular shape in turn supporting a plastic (or other material) bag. Being of simple construction, the manufacturing cost is much lower than other refuse containers and easier to make, therefore less expensive to purchase.
According to the present invention, there is a rectangular steel bar frame half of which is "L" shaped, and the other half is "U" shaped steel bar. The two halves are joined together by means of a bolt each side, back and front of the frame, enabling the "U" shaped steel bar to move freely up and down, whereas the "L" shaped supporting bar and frame remains stationary. This enables a plastic bag or the like to be fitted easily when the movable bar is sufficiently raised, then folding the bag outwardly and over the bar steel frame, and then pulling back the "U" shaped movable frame into the horizontal position, this stretches the rim of the bag very tightly and firmly, preventing the bag from falling away from the frame, and likewise supporting easily the refuse contents in the bag which is hanging from the steel frame bar.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:

Figure 5. This is a slightly enlarged section of the supporting bar steel frame, showing the method by which the "U" shaped steel bar is attached to the main "L" shaped steel bar frame, the latter is in a fixed position, whereas the former is movable. The position of the fixing bracket is shown for attaching to a wal or stand. A bag with a smaller or larger aperture can be fitted to the bar steel frame whereby the ends of the movable "U" shaped arm is extended each side, and a number of extra clearance holes are drilled in it, by means of this, the securing bolts holding the "U" shaped movable steel bar can be adjusted to take a smaller or larger bag, as shown in the drawing.

This shows an exploded part of the securing nut and bolt which holds together the "L" shaped stationary steel bar and the attached "U" shaped movable shaped steel bar, it will be seen that the latter has a clearance hole, allowing free movement of the "U" shaped steel bar, either up or down.
Refering to the drawings No.2335, Figs. 1 to 6. giving full details. According to the size of the refuse containing unit, ligher or heavier material may be used, such as steel or any other suitable material for either the bag frame support or the "S" bend supporting brackets.
The "S" angled supporting brackets are preferably welded to the "L" shaped nonmovable part of the frame shown in Fig. 4. of sections 11, 12, 14, and 15, The "S" angled brackets, two of which support the frame, these are shown supporting the "L" shaped section in Fig. 3, 4, and 5, of sheet Nos. 1, and 2, sections 12, 14, 16, and 25, also section 18, allows the lid together with section 15, to stand approximately 25.MM. away from the wall. The section 18, shown in Fig.
4, is off-set about 6.5, MM. from the wall, the top of which supports the hinge and lid, section 20, and 21, shown in Fig. 1. of No.1.

The frame itself consists of two separate parts, there is the "L" shaped steel bar section 16, of Fig. 5, which is the non-movable part that is rigidly attached by welding to the two of the units supporting "S" bend steel brackets, sections 12, 14, 15 and 18, of Fig.

The movable steel bar section 17, of Fig. 5, is shown in a semi upward swing from the horizontal position, also sections 24, of Fig. 5, shows a number of clearance holes drilled at the open ends of the steel bar section 17, in
Fig. 5, this enables, the securing bolt 9, shown in Fig. 6, to be removed from each side of the unit, and then replaced in other holes required in order to enlarge the size of the aperture of the rectangular steel bar unit, or likewise decrease its aperture, enabling smaller or larger bags to be fitted. It is preferable for the purpose of economy to have only one single hole each side of section 17, with bolt 9, of Fig. 5, as a standard unit.
The "U" shaped steel bar section 17, of
Fig. 5, is attached by means of bolt 9, together with 19, washers, into the threaded part of 16, and 23, through the clearance hole of 24, and the locking nut 10, securing the assembly securely to 16, sections shown in
Figs. 5, and 6.
This allows a plastic bag, or any other suitable material, to be placed through the centre of the steel metal bars sections 16, and 17, with the latter movable arm raised upwards to approximately 45 degrees, the open end of the plastic bag can then be folded outward and over the edges of the steel bar frame 16, and 17, sections for approxibately 25-30,
MM. When the correct size plastic bag, and of course the correct texture and thickness, using the movable steel bar 17, section, the latter steel arm may be pulled down to the
180 degrees horizontal position thereby stretching the bag very firmly at its open end, easily holding the weight of a normal dustbin load.
It will be seen that by this method that the movable arm section 17, moves freely because of the clearance hole drilled at section 24, Fig. 6. but when the bag is stretched by the arm 17, being pulled down it holds firmly in the horizontal position. The lid section 21, shown in Fig. 1-4, can be made of any suitable material, but preferably steel or mirrored finished stainless steel. The "EASY-STRETCH
BIN" unit can be attached either to a wall, onto a stand, or as a trolly on wheels. Removing the bag shown in section 22, Fig. 4, is very simple indeed, the arm of section 17, shown Fig. 3, and 5, is raised from the 180 degrees horizontal position, to approximately 45 degrees position, illustrated by section 17, in Fig. 5. Referring again to the lid shown in section 21, Fig. 1-4, it will be seen that the lid 21, overlaps the unit steel bar frame, in this instance by approximately 20-30, MM.
shown in Fig. 2, this allows easy access to the aperture of the bin, and also protects rain from getting into the interior of the bin. The width of the overlapping lid section 21, shown in Fig. 2, will vary according to the size of bag. unit held by steel bars-frame in either smaller or larger size units, making the interior of the plastic bag 22, completely weatherproof.
Claims (15)
1. A device comprising of a lid, and supporting steel frame bar outward and over the aperture of which is stretched a plastic bag, the bag hangs downward through the steel bar frame, and the plastic bag is held tightly at its aperture taking the full weight of the plastic bag and contents. The unit can be made is larger or smaller sizes to suit domestic or industrial use, using bags of appropriate sizes, the units can also be fitted to a wall, onto a self standing frame, or fitted to a trolley on wheels.
2. A device as in claim 1. consisting of a steel bar frame, which is for preference rectangular in shape, and lid, covering same, the movable part of the steel bar frame can be raised from the horizontal position, enabling a plastic bag to be easily fitted when raised to a near vertical position, the movable arm is then pulled back to the horizontal position, stretching the bag, and holding the plastic bag so firmly, that it becomes a self supporting, easily holding the weight of the refuse contents or other requirements for which it may be used.
3. A device as in claims 1, and 2, having a steel bar frame, part of which consisting of a movable arm that stretches the open end of a plastic bag, can be adjusted to take larger or smaller bags, by removing the steel bolt and nut from each side of the moving steel bar, and replacing the nut and bolt in a suitable clearance hole, whereby the width of the bag is increased or decreased, and likewise altering the length of the moving steel bar frame.
4. A device as in claim 3, whereby the moving steel bar frame has only one single clearance hole with nut and bolt supporting the moving steel bar frame each side, can be manufactured more economically as a standard unit.
5. A device as claimed in 1, 2, 3, and*4, for detachably supporting a bag, comprising an annular frame member to whose inwardly facing annular surface is secured support means in the form of at least one bracket by means of which the frame member is spaced from the wall, the outwardly facing annular surface of the frame member being freely upstanding and terminating in a free upper rim, the device permitting a bag to be detachably supported in operation on the frame member by passing the main part of the bag through the frame member and folding back the open mouth of the bag round said outwardly facing annular surface to engage the latter frictionally, the main part of the bag then being suspended beneath the frame member.
6. A device as claimed in claim 5, in which said at least one "S" shaped bracket is attached.
7. A device as claimed in claim 5, and 6, in which the frame member is rectangular in plan, and said at least one bracket is secured to one of the longer sides of the frame member.
8. A device as claimed in any proceeding claim in which the upstanding dimension of the outwardly facing annular surface of the frame member is at least 38, MM.
9. A device as claimed in any preceding claim in which said at least one bracket extends downwardly a short distance immediately below the frame member, so as to permit the entire peripheral extent of the lip of the bag to be passed below the lower rim of the frame member.
10. A device as claimed in any preceding claim including a lid for the frame member, which lid is hinged to said at least one bracket.
11. A device for detachably supporting a bag, substantially as described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
12. Incombination, a bag and a device for detachably supporting the bag comprising an annular frame member to which support means for supporting the frame member spaced above ground level is so secured that the outwardly facing annular surface of the frame member is freely upstanding and terminates in a free upper rim, the device permitting the bag to be detachably supported on the frame member by passing the main part of the bag through the frame member and folding back the open mouth of the bag round the outwardly facing annular surface, the mouth of the bag being do dimensioned as naturally to make a tight frictional fit when it is folded back round said annular surface as in claims 2, and 3, so that when said mouth is so folded back, the bag is frictionally supported by the frame member, with the main part of the bag being suspended beneath the frame member.
13. The combination as claimed in claim 12, in which said device is as claimed in any of claims 1 to 12.
14. The combination claimed in claims 12, or 13, in which the bag is made of synthetic resin sheet material which is inherently resiliently stretchable to a limited extent.
15. The combination claimed in claim 14, in which the said sheet material is made of polyethylene.
