Abstract
A vehicle wheel tire is provided which has a vaulted inner cavity, having a surface of approximately fifty percent of the total surface of the tire, inner and outer, producing a dampening and flexing effect when in use without the need of supplementary air. Preferably the tire has two specially-shaped lips on the tire undulations in the upper part on which an adjusting strap 5 is inserted to exert its force. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Tyres for bicycles without inner tube.
The instant invention refers to a new type of tire for wheels in general, of a special design, made of almost compact rubber, without inner tube and accessories therefor, which does not need additional air for its inflation and which maintaines the flexibility and dampening characteristics needed for wheeling.
This is a new type of tube-less tire, whith particular features and constitutive elements detailed hereinbelow, developed to meet an object not attained in the art up to now.
Obviously, there are tube-less tires and, unless they are compact, they require accessories for its inflation and for maintaining air therein in order to be used, and not to lose their essential features.
The tire of the invention, due to the fact that it does not need additional air, which is self-contained due to its shape, avoids the great problems of punctures, burstings and deflation, thus maintaining always its structural shape in order to obtain a permanent wheeling of the vehicle without the inconveniences cause by an irregular tire.
The object of the invention makes universal vehicles solve problems encountered until now even in the case of the most sophisticated tires.
Therefore, the basic object of the invention is accompiished by means of a new design having the following characteristics: a) an inner cavity with a surface of around fifty percent of the whole dimension of the tire; b) said tire has in its base two upper undulated lips, terminating in straight walls mutually joining when bearing on the rim surface, said lips being further designed to support an adjusting strap; c) an adjusting strap for adjusting the tire on the rim, shaped to mate the base un
dulation of its inner cavity, which fixes and
prevents its displacement out of the rim when
rough or forced driving takes place, the adjusting force of which may be regulated by a
rack mechanical device.
The constituting element of the tire of the
invention, forming the essence of this novel
tire, are hereinbelow detailed with relation to the accompanying drawings, taking as an
example a bicycle tire:
Figure 1 is a section of the tire bearing on the rim.

base on which the adjusting strap will be fixed
and supported.

base.

its straight part, when bearing the tire on the
rim.
Reference 5 section of the strap when adjusting the undulated part of the tire lips (base of the cavity).

1. Vehicle wheel tire wherein said tire has a vaulted inner cavity, having a surface of approximately fifty percent of the total surface of the tire, inner and outer, producing a dampening and flexibility effect when wheeling without the need of supplementary air.
2. Vehicle wheel tire having two specially
shaped lips on the tire base mutually joining when placed on the rim, with undulation in their upper part (lower base of the cavity of
reference 1)) on which the adjusting strap is
inserted to exert its force.
3. A strap accompanying the inner part of
the tire, displaceable through the inner cavity
(vault) for adjusting on the lips constituting the
bearing base of said cavity on the rim, this
strap being of solid plastics, metallic tape,
special plastic cord, etc.
4. Adjusting device (pinion) for the strap
located at the inlet of the valve, being me
chanically tensioned to turn by means of a
small lever which may be made of plastics,
metal, etc.
5. A vehicle wheel tyre as claimed in claim
1 substantially as described herein with refer
ence to the accompanying drawings.
