Abstract
219,090. Meurer, N. April 18, 1923. Coating-machines.-In a process for coating the surfaces of tubes or other elongated or bent articles wherein pressure fluid is used in combination with concrete or the like for coating, the pressure fluid is supplied to the article to be treated at the same pressure as that prevailing in the pressure supply means, and the articles to be treated are so arranged that the treating material is passed through narrow paths to effect uniform treatment. In coating the interior of a pipe 1, Fig. 1, air under pressure is supplied at 2 and coating-material at 4, the cross-sectional area of the pipe being reduced by a rod or the like 7 which may be pushed forward in the direction of the arrow. With articles of varying size, a number may be arranged as shown in Fig. 3 and coated together, the outer tube 1 being rotated on rollers 9, and strips or wires 12, 13 drawn through during the operation. In another arrangement, a tube 1, Fig. 4, is provided with a cap 19 and filled with coating-material from a container 22. The cap 19 is then removed and fluid under pressure injected by a pipe 15 provided with jets 17a, the pipe 15 being slowly withdrawn from the pipe 1 during the operation.
