Abstract
219,076. Smith, S., and Wellman Smith Owen Engineering Corporation, Ltd. April 16, 1923. Pulverulent-fuel burners.-A pulverulent-fuel burner consists of a body part A formed with a tubular inlet a for fuel and primary air, a splayed-out mouthpiece B projecting through the furnace wall or roof C, and a sleeve D slidable on the inlet a by the rotation of a spindle b which operates through pinion gearing g, f<2>, a screw f passing through a projection on the sleeve. The sleeve D is formed with fixed or adjustable internal webs or vanes d<2> which impart a whirling movement to the fuel and primary air. The secondary air enters the body part A through openings a<2> and is divided into separate streams before it meets the fuel and primary air by an inclined ring E attached to the sleeve D. The ring E may be formed with inclined webs or vanes to impart a whirling movement to the secondary air.
