Abstract

218,485. Oughton, T. C., and Oughton, A. July 3, 1923. Vehicle fittings. - In scavengers' carts of the type described in Specification 9968/15, [Class 108 (i), Road vehicles, Body details &c. of], in which a receptacle or a platform for refuse bins is pivotally mounted at the rear of the vehicle and is connected to a sliding door in such a manner that tilting of the receptacle &c. operates the door, the tilting of the receptacle &c. and the operating of the door are effected, through suitable mechanism, by the engine which propels the vehicle. The receptacle or platform C, pivoted at N, is tilted by means of winding-drums F, cables E, and sector guides D. The winding-drums Fare rotated in either direction bv means of double friction gearing H, I driven through shafting H<1> by the vehicle engine. The door B is slidably mounted in guides and is connected to the sector guides D by arms B<1> so that the movement of the sector guides causes the door to slide. The door is provided with depending forks or rakes to assist in the even distribution of the refuse in the tank A.
