Abstract
Fur before or after its removal from skins is treated with a solution containing hydrogen peroxide and a hydroxide of an alkali metal, preferably sodium hydroxide. This solution may be prepared by dissolving sodium peroxide in water. The fur treated in this way is non-poisonous and may be made into felt for hats, which may be dyed in light shades of colour.
