Abstract

Cleansing-compositions for removing rust from iron &c. consist of mixtures of caustic soda, soda, and potassium manganate or permanganate. They are used dissolved in water. Glycerine is added when the compositions are used for removing oil, dirt, &c. from iron &c. articles. In an example 750 grams of caustic soda, 875 grams of soda crystals, 10 grams of potassium permanganate or manganate, and 12 litres of water are used.
