Abstract

A remote power operated rear window device has a casing 10 which can be secured to the inside of a vehicle. The thread 12 driven by an electric motor 18 via a gear box can both push and pull a rear side window. Moreover, switching the motor ignition key to the "off" position can activate the device to shut the rear side window. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Remote power operated rear window device This invention relates to a remotely controlled device which is capable of doing work, for example, opening and closing rear windows in cars.
In a vehicle, there is some mechanism which has to be operated manually, for instance, operating a bonnet, rear side windows, boot, or similar means.
All these operations, nevertheless, can be dealt with by employing remote control devices. As a result, they can be done with less effort.
One version of the present invention is the remote power operated rear window. It consists of a casing which carries an electric motor and a gear box. The casing can be made up of two parts where one either can or cannot rotate relative to the other. One end of the protruding worm gear is secured to a subject, by some means, which is to be operated, for example, a rear window, or similar means. The movement of the worm gear can both push and pull the subject.
Moreover, switching the motor ignition key to the "off" position will activate the device to pull the subject.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective, the remote power operated rear window device and a hinged window in a general position.
Figure 2 shows the general lay-out of the components contained inside the casing.
Referring to the drawing, the remote power operated rear window device comprises of a casing 10 which is made up of two parts. One part of this can rotate relative to the other one. The actual product could be different in appearance. The casing is secured to the inside of a car, for example, screws, bolts, or similar means (not shown). The casing carries an electric motor 18 and some gears, as shown in Figure 2. One end of the work gear 12 is secured to the rear side window 14, for example, hinge or similar means. As the worm gear 12 travels in the direction of the arrow 16, the rear side window 14 is pushed open. The degree of movement depends on the distance the worm gear 12 travels. A stopper 11 is provided to prevent the worm gear 12 from over-running.To close the window 14, the worm gear 12 travels in the direction of the arrow 17, hence the window is pulled towards the casing 10, and the movement terminates when the rear window 14 reaches the car frame (not shown).
1. A remote power operated rear window device consists of a casing which carries an electric motor and a gear box. The casing can be made up of two parts, where one either can or cannot rotate relative to the other. One end of the protruding worm gear is secured to a subject, by some means, in a way that the subject can be operated. The movement of the work gear can both push and pull the subject.
Moreover switching the motor ignition key to the "off"position will activate the device to pull the subject.
2. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the connection means is provided with a flexible coupling, for example, a universal joint (not shown) or similar means.
3. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the arrangement means between the subject and the electric motor is replaced by a compressor and a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder (not shown).
4. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in Claim 2 and Claim 3 wherein the connection means between the subject and the casing is provided with a lever where different part of it is secured to the subject, worm gear or cylinder and the car frame (not shown).
5. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the arrangement means, worm gears, are not employed. In addition, the remote control device is installed adjacent to or on the axis of rotation of the subject in a way that the subject can be operated, via some mechanism, for example, cogs, pulleys, gears, or similar means (not shown).
6. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the connection means is replaced by a lazy tong jack (not shown) and only one worm gear is employed.
7. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in Claim 1 wherein the connection means is replaced by a rack and pinion type mechanism (not shown).
8. A remote power operated rear window device as claimed in the previous 6 claims wherein the connection means is provided with an extra catch or similar means (not shown) to secure the subject in position.
9. A remote power operated rear window device substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1 and 2 of the accompanying drawing.
