Bedsteads convertible into seats.-One portion comprising the seat and back rest of a child's cot is movable relatively to the remainder to effect conversion into a chair. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2 a lower frame 3 and an upper frame 1, with a tray 2, are connected by four legs which are braced in pairs with regard to the front and sides but are left open at the back. The seat 5 is hinged to the top front cross stay and its rear is hinged to the back rest 6 which is hooked to the top back cross stay by the lower of two hooks 10, 11 when in use as a seat. In the converted form the moving parts are swung outwardly and the structure turned into the position shown in Fig. 2, the back rest now being supported by the upper hook 11, while the projecting frames 1, 3 act as legs. A folding mattress 12, 13, 14 is adapted to be stored within the chair frame when not in use. The sides of the frame may be arranged for lateral extension to give increased width when in use as a cot. In a modified form of construction, shown in Fig. 6, the seat and back rest are relatively fixed and form an upper structure 21 pivoted to a lower structure 20, and opening to the position shown in dotted lines to form a cot.
