216,451. Alvis Car & Engineering Co., Ltd., and Clarke, G. T. Smith-. Nov. 29, 1923. Vibration dampers.-In a shockabsorber of the type in which a depending plate is pivoted to the frame of a vehicle and slides between friction surfaces, the depending plate D is hinged directly, or by means of a shackle E, to a bracket B secured to the chassis frame and slides vertically between a pair of pads J carried by cheeks G, H secured together by a bolt K and spring-pressed by a spring washer L. The cheek G may be formed integrally with a part M adapted to secure it to the axle. A certain amount of play is permitted. The shock-absorber may readily be fitted to existing vehicles.
