216,281. Kuyser, J. A., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. April 9, 1923. Pole-pieces, cores, and yokes.-To maintain stability at the lower voltages of a continuous current generator, for example, the exciter of a turbo-alternator, the magnetic circuit is constructed with a relatively large quantity of material of low magnetic retentivity, and a relatively small quantity of material of high retentivity in the form of plates which occupy the complete cross-section of the magnetic circuit. One or more cobalt-steel plates may be inserted between a pole 2 and its seat on the yoke 1 or between a pole and its pole-shoe 4, or in the body of the pole-core Alternatively, a plate 3 may be placed in the yoke between each pair of poles.
