Description
SPECIFICATION
Plastic safety razor with fixed blade, containiny emollient inside the handle
Background of the invention
Safety razors for shaving beards comprising a blade inserted in a head, constructed for limiting projection of the cutting edge to avoid accidental injuries, and a handle are well-known objects.
These razors, comprising a fixed non-renewable blade, are made of light plastic material of very low cost compared with the cost of the blade.
When the blade has lost its cutting edge it is therefore best to throw away the whole razor, instead of putting in a new blade as would be done with an ordinary razor.
Also well-known are the many "pre-shave' products used to prepare the skin for shaving, namely emollients such as soaps, creams, oils, foams which soften the beard and enable the blade to slide more smoothly over the skin.
In theory, these razors are very convenient particularly for emergency use as when on a journey, in hotels, in the car or in other places outside the home. This supposed convenience is however always lessened by the sometimes considerable difficulties caused by having to get hold of the emollient product. The container of such products too is generally bulky and awkward to use. The above invention eliminates all these drawbacks while.providing other important advantages now to be described.
Summary of the invention
According to the invention, the hollow handle of the razor is fitted with a removable cap so that it can contain a product suitable for preparing the face for shaving, such as liquid soap, oil, fluid cream or other emollient, which product can be poured out as required.
The emollient can be stored directly in the cavity of the handle made liquid-proof and kept inside by means of a cap furnished with washers or made of fairly elastic plastic material that will ensure a tight fit.
The cap is applied to the handle in various ways, such as by a screw thread, elastic press-in arrangement or other suitable methods.
The elastic press-in closing means are created by the presence of raised rings on the shank of a "male" cap that fit into annular grooves or channels cut near the open end of the handle.
The press-in closing means can also be obtained by annular grooves cut inside a "female" cap that fits tightly onto raised rings made near the open end of the handle.
Alternatively the emollient is kept inside its own container, such as a tube, small bottle and the like, thewhole of which fits into the cavity in the handle.
Said cavity is closed by a hinged lid and some simple means of keeping said lid shut like a clip, elastic projections and the like, or by a press-down lid held in place by various means.
In these ways the closing device will be suffi ciently tight to prevent accidental openings, but easy to open when needed for use, even with only one finger.
To use the emollient product before shaving one has merely to remove the cap, incline the handle serving as a container, and pour the necessary quantity into the palm of the hand or else straight onto the face.
If the emollient product is kept in its own container, such as a tube, small bottle and the like, it is sufficient to lift the lid at the end of the handle, take out the container and use it in the usual way, unscrewing its cap and squeezing it or tilting it adequately.
After taking out sufficient emollient, the container is put back inside the handle of the razor and shaving can then commence.
The characteristics and purposes of the invention will be made still clearer by the examples that follow illustrated by diagrammatical drawings.

Detailed description of the preferred embodiments
The razor (10) comprises a handle (11), a "shaving head" (12) with blade (13) and, at the other end, a threaded cap (14) that can be screwed onto the collar (15) of the handle. The chamber (16) contains the fluid emollient.
The razor (17) has a "male" cap (18) of elastic plastic material having a shank (19) that fits tightly inside the opening of the chamber (20).
The razor (21) has an elastic "female" cap (22) in which an internal raised rim, not shown in the Figure, fits into the external groove (23) of the opening (24) of the chamber (25).
Figure 4 shows how the emollient (29) is taken out of the handle (11) of the razor (10) held in the one hand (28). The emollient poured into the other hand (30) is about to be applied to the face.
Shaving is done by holding the razor (10), Figure 5, in the hand (28) as normally done.
Figures 6 and 7 show the razor (33) with its head (34) and a handle widening out towards the base (35), suitable for containing the tube (36) with emollient, kept inside by the cap (37) with hinge (38).
The projection (39) fits tight onto the inside edge (40) of the chamber (41) inside the handle.
The advantages of the invention are clear.
In order to shave it is sufficient to have the described razor which can alone do a certain number of shaving operations, from preparation of the skin to removal of the beard.
All this without the encumbrance of various objects, and with just a few simple and instinctive movements, practically without having to put the razor down.
This is so both if the emollient is kept inside the handle of the razor or of it is in its own tube or bottle.
As application of the invention has been described merely as an example in no way limited to this, it follows that any equivalent application of the inventive concepts explained and any product made and/or operating according to the characteristics of the invention will be covered by its field of protection.
Claims (5)
1. Safety razor of the type with fixed blade characterised in that there is a cavity in the handle fitted with a removeable cap so that it can contain a product, suitable for preparing the face for.shaving, such as liquid soap, oil, fluid cream or other emollient, which product can be poured out as required.
2. Safety razor with fixed blade as in claim 1, characterised in that the emollient can be stored directly in the cavity of the handle, made liquidproof, and kept inside by means of a cap furnished with washers or made of fairly elastic plastic material that will ensure an adequate seal.
3. Safety razor with fixed blade as in claim 1, characterised in that the cap is applied to the handle in various ways such as threading, elastic press-in means obtained by having annular projection on the shank of a "male" cap that press into annular grooves or channels cut near to the opening of the handle, or be annular grooves cut inside a "female" cap that press onto raised rings made near to the opening of the handle, or by means of other similar systems.
4. Safety razor with fixed blade as in claim 1, characterised in that the emollient is kept in its own container such as a tube, small bottle and the like, such containers being placed inside the cavity in the handle.
5. Safety razor with fixed blade as in claim 4, characterised in that the cavity of the handle is closed by a hinged lid and simple means of keeping is shut such as clips, elastic projections and the like, or by forms of pressure caps with closing devices of various kinds, in such a way that said closing devices will satisfactorily withstand accidental opening but also be easy to open when needed even using one finger only.
