Abstract

216,201. Plenderleath, J. S. Feb. 21, 1923. Berths convertible into couches.- A pair of berths are arranged so that they can be converted into a settee by a combined sliding and pivotal move-' ment such that, during conversion, the berths occupy positions wholly within the space between them when in their normal horizontal positions. Brackets 1 are provided with slots 5, 11, within which engage rollers 6, 12 on the berths 7, 13 and links 8, 15 are provided, pivoted to the brackets at 9. 18, and to the berths at 10, 16. Supports 20, pivoted to the upper berth at A, detachably engage openings 22 in the brackets 1, and in order to convert the berths into a settee, the lower berth is completely reversed, the supports 20 are folded, and the upper berth is turned through a right angle with its lower side outermost.
