Abstract
A folding solid fuel cookstove for cooking jobs in mountaineering, camping, barbecue and other outdoor activities comprises a base plate 1 having a plurality of vents 11, grooves and holes formed therein, and two frame plates 2 which are pivoted on both sides of the base plate. The upper edges of the frame plates 2 have a substantially serrated form. With such arrangement the cookstove of the invention may form a rectangular body by turning said frame plates toward the base plate for transportation (figure 4 not shown), the upper edges of the frame plates fitting together in a complementary fashion. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
Folding solid fuel cookstove
The invention relates to a solid fuel cookstove which utilizes solid fuel as the energy source of cooking jobs.
Such a cookstove according to the present invention comprises a base plate which includes a plurality of vents, a plurality of grooves and holes, and two frame plates which are pivoted on both sides of said base plate. The upper edges of said frame plates take substantially the serrate form. The frame plates further have a plurality of protrusions which may in turn set in the holes in the base plate when the frame plates are in a mounted position or in a folded position. Bythisarrangement, the frame plates can be turned toward and then folded on the base plate so as to form a rectangular bodyfortransportation.
It is, therefore, a principal object of the invention to provide a folding solid fuel cookstove for being used in mountaineering, camping, barbecue and other outdoor activities as a cooking utensil, having the advantages of light-weighted, small volume and easy carrying.
Another object of the invention isto provide a folding solid fuel cookstove which has simple construction and may be made at a minimum of cost.
Many other objects and advantages ofthe invention will be apparentfrom the following detailed description of a preferred embodimentthereof, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which:
FIG. lisa fragmentary perspective view of a preferred embodiment according to the present invention;
FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the preferred embodiment of the present invention, showing the folding cookstove in the mounted position; FIG. 3is a perspectiveview,showingthefolding cookstove in the mounted position, in which a pan is placed on the cookstove;
FIG. 4 is a perspective view ofthe preferred embodiment of the invention, showingthefolding cookstove in the folded position.
As shown in FIG. la a preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a base plate (1) and two frame plates (2) which are pivoted on both sides of the base plate (1 ) such thattheframe plates (2), as shown in FIG. 2, are disposed on the opposite ends of the base plate (1 ) and is capable of moving in the direction of arrow (34) in FIG. 2 by a person. The base plate (1) taken substantiallythe rectangularform is made by impact molding technique. A circular protrusion (111) is provided on the central portion ofthe upper surface of the base plate (1 ) for supporting a solid fuel such thatthe solid fuel will be a small distance from the upper surface ofthe base plate (1 ) as it is placed on the circular protrusion (111).On the base plate (1), a plurality of vents (11) are formed around the circular protrusion (111). The base plate (1 ) further provides with several grooves (12) which encompass the area where the vents (11) and the circular protrusion (111) are located. Each side (13) ofthe base plate (1) is provided with a plurality of holes (14), (15) and (16), among which the hole (14) is provided for pivoting the frame plate (2) on the side (13) ofthe base plate (1).
Both the ends ofthe base plate (1 ) where the frame plates (2) are disposed further provide with a retaining plate (17) and (18) for holding a solid fuel on the confinesofthearea defined bythegrooves(12).
The frame plates (2) are pivoted on both sides of the base plate (1 ) by a rivet through the hole (21 ) ofthe frame plate (2) and the hole (14) of the base plate (1).
The frame plates (2) further provide with ribs (31 ) for reinforcement. Also, the frame plates (2) provide with a plurality of small protrusions (22), (23), (24) extending inwardlyfor setting into the holes (15), (16) of the base plate (1 ) so as to facilitate the connection between the base plate (1) and the frame plates (2). It is therefore, as shown in FIG. 2, when the cookstove is in the mounted position, the small protrusions (24) ofthe frame plates (2) are set in the holes (15) ofthe base plate (1). Furthermore, as best illustrated in FIG. 2 and 4, when the frame plates (2) areturnedtoward and then folded on the base plate (1), the holes (22) and (23) oftheframe plates (2) are set in the holes (16) and (15) ofthe base plate (1) correspondingly.
FIG. 3 illustrates a cookstove according to the invention in the mounted position, in which a solid fuel is placed on the circular protrusion (111) on the confines ofthe area defined by the grooves (12), and a cooking device, such as a pan or a water-bottle, is supported on the upper edges of the frame plates (2).
The grooves (12) ofthe base plate (1), as shown in FIG.
1 and 2, are designed to exhaust the fluid spilled over the cooking device so as nottowetthe solid fuel.
When the cookstove according to the invention is unnecessary to be used, it can be formed a rectangular body fortransportation by turning the frame plates (2) toward the base plate (1) and then setting the small protrusions (23), (22) of the frame plates (2) in the holes (15), (16) ofthe base plate (1). In this event, the upper edges of the frame plates (2) will also complementto each other, as shown in FIG. 4. Accordingly, it is therefore.the characteristic features of the invention that the cookstove, with such arrangement, is subjected to be carried by a person in the event of mountaineering, camping, and other outdoor activities, being used as a cooking utensil.
Various modifications ofthe above-described embodiment ofthe invention will be apparentto those skill in the art, and it is to be understood that such modifications can be made without departing from the scope ofthe invention, if they are within the spirit and the tenor of the accompanying claim.
1. Afoldingsolidfuel cookstovecomprises a base plate made by impact molding technique, which has a plurality of vents on the central portion, a plurality of grooves encompassing said vents, a plurality of holes on the both sides, and retaining plates for reinforcement on the both ends; two frame plates pivoted on both sides of said base plate respectively and the upper edges thereof are substantially in serrate form; said frame plates further have a plurality of ribs for reinforcement, and a plurality of small protrusions for setting in said holes of said base plate, such that the folding solid fuel cookstove can be folded into a rectangular body for transportation by turning said frame plates toward said base plate.
