Abstract

215,269. Farner, A. Oct. 26, 1923. Impact pulverizers. -In apparatus for pulverizing fuel and feeding it to furnaces, the rotor of the pulverizer is contained in a perforated envelope enclosed in a casing of relatively large volume m respect to the envelope and means are provided for returning to the pulverizer the large particles which have passed through the envelope and settled in the casing. The fuel and air are supplied to the mill though a channel f, and the beater envelope c is formed with large perforations and divided by partitions d into compartments within which work beaters b carried by a shaft a. The compartments increase in size from the inlet end, and the envelope c is enclosed' by an outer casing g having tubular outflows h, i. The coarse particles of fuel are returned by a passage n to the inlet end of the inner envelope c by means of a conveyer worm k and centrifugal wheel m arranged at the bottom of the outer casing g and driven from the shaft a. The partitions d project outwards from the envelope c, the projecting ends d<1> forming obstructions for the fuel dust thrown out through the perforations of the envelope c.
