Abstract
Adjusting or controlling the roving tension is effected in a roving frame with individual drives for the flyer, spool and drawing frame. The tension of the roving (10) is detected by the measured value receiver (6) and the individual drives (1, 2, 11) are adjusted by the processing unit (3) on the basis of this thread tension so that an optimum thread tension is achieved. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A Method of and Apparatus for Adjusting Roving
Tension in a Roving Frame with Individual Drives
The invention relates to a method for adjusting roving tension in a roving frame with individual drives, in the field of roving production.
A method for correcting the roving tension in roving frames has not been disclosed up to now.
In order to correct the thread tension in machines with a central drive use is made of devices with a spring-loaded knee joint which is controlled by a curved guideway (German Auslegeschrift 24 25 174), or devices which control the thread tension by means of cams. In addition, correction control systems are known (German Offenlegungsschrift 19 13 055). The achievement of these known solutions requires a high degree of mechanical complexity and the setting of the thread tension correction is only possible on the basis of empirical values. These solutions cannot be used for a single drive.
An aim of the invention is to provide a method enabling the roving tension to be adjusted.
The invention provides a method and apparatus for adjusting the roving tension in roving frames with individual drives.
The invention provides a method of adjusting the roving tension in a roving frame with individual drives, wherein the thread tension of a thread from the frame is detected and in that the individual drives are set to an optimum thread tension by a processing unit on the basis of the detected thread tension.
The invention also provides apparatus for controlling roving tension, comprising a roving frame, individual drives for the flyer, spool and drawing frame of the roving frame respectively, and means responsive to the tension of th read from the roving frame for adjusting the drives to achieve a desired thread tension.
In accordance with the invention the tension of the thread is detected by the measured value receiver and on the basis of this thread tension, the individual drives are set by a processing unit to an optimum thread tension. In accordance with the position of the thread in the measured value receiver, the nominal values for the motors are calculated by the processing unit. These nominal values may be varied individually or in combination by the processing unit until an optimum thread tension is achieved.
An embodiment of the invention is described in detail hereinafter with reference to the drawings in which:
Fig. lisa block diagrammatic illustration of the operational relationship of the components and signals of the roving frame.
In the roving frame, electric motors 1,2, 11 are the individual drives for the flyer 7, the spools 8 and the drawing frame 9 respectively. The thread tension of the thread 10 is detected in accordance with the position of the thread 10 in the measured value receiver 6, which develops an electric signal representative of th read tension. The nominal values 4, 5, 12 for the motors 1,2, 11 are calculated by an electrical processing unit 3 typically a CPU of a microprocessor for this detected thread tension signal. These nominal values 4,5, 12 are varied individually or in combination by the processing unit 3 until an optimum thread tension of the thread 10 is achieved.
1. A method of adjusting the roving tension in a roving frame with individual drives, wherein the thread tension of a thread from the frame is detected and the individual drives are set to an optimum thread tension by a processing unit on the basis of the detected thread tension.
2. A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein nominal control values for the motors are calculated by the processing unit in accordance with the position of the thread in a measured value receiver for the thread tension.
3. A method as claimed in claim 2 wherein the nominal values are varied individually or in combination by the processing unit until an optimum thread tension is achieved.
4. A method of adjusting the roving tension in a roving frame with individual drives, substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
5. Apparatus for controlling roving tension, comprising a roving frame, individual drives for the flyer, spool and drawing frame of the roving frame respectively, and means responsive to the tension of th read from the roving frame for adjusting the drives to achieve a desired thread tension.
6. Apparatus according to claim 5 wherein said tension responsive means includes means for detectorythreadtension, and electrical processor means responsive to said detected thread tension for developing electric signals for controlling said individual drives.
7. Apparatus for controlling roving tension in a roving frame, substantially as herein described with
reference to the accompanying drawings.
