Abstract

214,462. Armstrong, J. J. V., (Turbulator Corporation. April 23, 1923. Induction pipes, fittings for.-Unvaporized fuel particles on the walls of the induction pipe conveying combustible mixture from a carburettor, are trapped and delivered to the mixture stream at its point of highest velocity. A Venturi tube 7 has around its throat an enlargement 8 which is screwed into a sleeve 9, the flanged end 10 of which is gripped between the flanges of the intake manifold 4 and the carburettor outlet pipe 5. The sleeve and the inner and outer ends of the Venturi are of such diameters as to produce annular channels 14, 16, 17 which communicate through two series of radial holes 15, 18 with the throat of the Venturi. Particles of fuel on the walls of the pipe are thus drawn or forced into these channels and delivered through the holes into the high velocity mixture stream and atomized.
