Abstract
214,277. Gans, O. April 14, 1923, [Convention date]. Dolls. - A walking and talking doll is provided with means by which the " voice " is sounded only after a predetermined number of steps have been taken. A bellows b fixed inside the body a of the doll has secured to it a rod c which lies in the path of pins e projecting from a ratchet-wheel d. A pawl g, pivoted on an arm f, engages the teeth of the wheel d. A rod i secured to the leg of the doll rocks the arm f through the medium of a lever k. Thus as the doll walks, the wheel d is moved intermittently, and one of the pins e either comprises or opens the bellows, releasing it after a number of steps have been made and sounding the " voice." The wheel d may be arranged in a vertical plane, and the rod i may impart movement to the head, arms, or eyes of the doll.
