Jackets and covers. -A tvre cover formed In two separate portions each with an inner and outer beaded edge to engage corresponding rims, is built up from unwoven cord layers A, an outer rubber facing B, beads D, (which may be extensible or not) with bias-fabric reinforcements E, the outer beads having rubber fillets e to ensure a tight joint when the half covers are butted at the tread. The cord foundation may be formed by winding about a drum, applying a rubber coating, transversely severing strips from such winding, and then folding the. severed strip so as to form a crossed-thread two-ply layer. Two or more such layers may be incorporated in a cover.
