Abstract
212,386. Brooks & Co., Ltd., J. B., and Hawkes, A. Feb. 20, 1923. Addition to 188,416. Cycles.-The method of attaching wires or rods to the metal parts of cycle saddles &c. as described in the parent Specification is modified by forming the wires or rods 1, Fig. 3, with projections 2, instead of or in addition to recesses, around which projections the sleeve 4 is contracted by the pressure die or plunger, the sleeve 4 being passed from below through a hole in the back plate &c. 6 of the saddle as far as a shoulder 5 on the sleeve, and the upper end of the sleeve pressed over the edges of the hole in the plate 6. The projections 2 may be formed by stamping or flattening the wire 1 at opposite parts 3. During the pressing operation, the sleeves and wires are held in position by pairs of clamping- jaws 8, 9 and 10, 11, Fig. 8, which are formed with registering recesses 17, 18 to receive the sleeves and wires, and are pivoted on bolts 12, 13, 14 mounted on a bar 15 fixed to a base member 16.
