Abstract

211,844. Crankless Engines, (Aus.) Proprietary, Ltd.. Feb. 20, 1923, [Convention date]. Recovering waste lubricants.-In the casing of an enclosed steam-engine, a low pressure and relative high temperature are maintained to. keep the circulated lubricating-oil free of water. The casing 1 communicates with an ejector 4 which removes vapour and keeps the pressure therein low so that the temperature is higher than the boiling point of the condensed leakage steam from the cylinders. A steam heating-coil may also be provided. During the heating, the mixed oil and water passes over plates 7, and the oil left passes to a sump 8 and is again circulated by a pump 9. A centrifugal or other separator may be introduced into the pump circuit. The mixed steam and air from the casing passes to the atmosphere or to the main or a separate condenser.
