Abstract

211,204. Gordon, J. M. Nov. 13, 1922. Crossing-gates and barriers.-For controlling vehicular and pedestrian traffic, barriers 11, 14 are mounted in a tower 1 which is erected on the pavement 2 opposite to the stand 3. The barriers 11, 14 are operated from the observer's nest 1 in such a manner that when the barrier 11 is down to arrest road traffic, the barrier 14 is raised to permit pedestrian traffic and vice versa. The barriers may be made of rubber, leather, steel &c. and may be controlled mechanically, pneumatically or electrically. Instead of or in addition to the barriers 11. 14 a visible air or like screen may be projected from the tower or road.
