Sawing.-A stone-sawing frame a is suspended by four links b, one at each corner, from two cross shafts d supported in bearings e capable of sliding in uprights f. The frame is raised by means of wire ropes h wound on drums i rotated by means of gearing from a countershaft n. The frame is lowered by ratchet gear u under the control of an eccentric v, the weight of the frame being taken by a brake drum r on the shaft n with a weighted lever s. A hand-lever 2 may be used to control the brake. The frame is reciprocated by two connecting rods c, and the saws are clamped between pairs of bars 3 which can be adjusted along the frame by means of holes 6.
