Abstract
208,967. Hariveau, P. April 4, 1923. Addition to 156,470. Starting, facilitating; centrifugal ejector pumps; delivering air and water under pressure into closed reservoir.-Relates to duplex centrifugal pumps in which one part is used for priming the other part and consists in a modification of the pump described in the parent Specification. One of the inlets of that pump is connected to a water reservoir 17 and the outlet connects both to the delivery pipe 26 and to the reservoir. When the pump is started, the left-hand side of the rotor, Fig. 2, pumps water from and delivers it back to the reservoir and in so doing, by injector action of the water draws air from the suction pipe 14 until the pump is fully primed. The reservoir fills with water as the water rises in the delivery pipe and a float 22 bv means of a lever 20 lifts a valve 19 into position to close the inlet pipe 10. In the normal working of the right-hand side of the rotor as a water pump, the left-hand side may be used as an ejector pump, either to evacuate some vessel connected' to the pipe 10 or to deliver compressed air with the water into a closed reservoir so that the water mav be delivered therefrom under pressure.
