Portable checking and recording clocks for pigeon races &c.-An apparatus for recording the time of arrival of pigeons in a race comprises four paper or like dials a - - d representing days, hours, minutes and seconds actuated by the clock mechanism i and disposed in front of a plate e covered by a detachable glazed front, a pricker mechanism mounted on a slidable and rotatable shaft r at the back of the plate e and actuated by the rotation of a pigeon ring box k which is mounted below the clock mechanism and intermittently rotated by a hand operated plunger x, and a locking lever g adapted to be moved to lock and release the lid of the casing by means of a notched disc on the ring box, means being provided to record said movements. The minute spindle c<4> of the clock drives the arbor c<2> through a friction drive c<3> so that the dials a, b, c may be collectively reset. The pigeon ring box k comprises a drum with a number of receptacles k<2>, and pin disc l and a non- reverse ratchet wheel o. The drum is rotated by operation of the plunger x through a sliding piece m and a lever n having a one-way pawl n<3> adapted to engage the pins l<3> on the disc l. A spring controlled lever p having a projection p<5> is provided to prevent excess rotation of the ring box, the projection p<5> acting as a stop to limit the movement of the pins l<3>. The prickers r<6> are mounted on arms r<4>, r<5> carried by the shaft r which is adapted to be [rocked by a trigger t actuated by means of a lever s co-operating with the pins l<3>. A snail cam q on the ratchet wheel o engages one arm of a two armed lever u the other arm of which is in contact with a spring controlled arm w engaging one arm of a rocking member v that engages a pin v<3> on the shaft r so that the shaft is displaced longitudinally to change the radial position of each succeeding record. The lid of the casing is provided with hooks or catches f<8> 'with which is adapted to engages the locking lever g when the said lever is rocked by an arm h on a shaft h<2> cranked at its lower end h<5> and rocked by means of a notch l<2> in the periphery of the pin disc l. The first operation of the plunger locks the lid and the last operation releases it.
