Abstract

Apparatus for earthing the human body is in the form of a flexible article comprising an envelope 3 containing as a flexible layer a homogeneous mass of metal powder which is connected to earth by a wire 4. The wire 4 is provided with a magnetic coupling contact 5 which can be readily coupled to an existing grounding system, such as a domestic plumbing system. Preferably, the envelope 3 is slip proof and the metal powder is held in the form of a flexible layer by being permanently magnetised or by being electrolytically coated, or by vapor coating. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION A polarisation and compensation apparatus for bioelectrical potentials The present invention is with respect to a polarisation and compensation apparatus for the electrical or bioelectrical potential in the human body taking into account, or in relation to, ground potential.
Such a polarisation and compensation apparatus is more specially produced while one is sleeping or resting.
It has become clear from new scientific work and developments that many undesired effects such as generally feeling unwell, are produced on human body, because, in modern civilisation, the body's changing bioelectrical potential level in relation to the electrical potential of the earth is put an end to or no longer pissible, this being the cause of a number of disease effects, on which point a number of different scientific papers have given attention, see the papers for example of Dr.
S. Lang and Dr. Lohmair of Saarbrücken.
Furthermore it has become clear of late in medicine that, more specially in the case of bodily injuries, healing processes are generally speeded up by an electrical potential which is compensated in relation to the ground potential. Furthermore, in this case nervous pain may be put an end to.
In one prior art system (see French patent 1,409,059) use is made of a grounded, flexible metal body in the form of a metal sheet, as a cover or blanket or mat, or furthermore as a single piece of netting or basketwork, or in the form of metal tapes or strips. However such systems have not gone down well and have not come to be widely used or looked well upon by the trade, because of the bad selection of materials which, when used, were seen to have undesired properties inasfar as they were uneven and do not take the form of a structure giving comfortable support to the user's body. Furthermore, any broken ends of the basketwork were highly likely to be the cause of injuries such as cuts or other wounds in the skin.
A further shortcoming of this known apparatus is that the grounding wire has to be joined up (or unjoined) with a grounding system by way of a wire, a plug and a socket, something which is generally troublesome and complex for the user and furthermore makes it necessary for the necessary grounding system (in a building for example) to have been put in by an electrician before the apparatus may be used.
One purpose of the present invention is that of making a further design of a bioelectric polarisation and compensation or equalizing apparatus which takes care of the shortcomings of prior art apparatus.
For effecting these and other purposes in the present invention a polarisation and compensation apparatus for the electrical or bioelectrical potential in the human body in direct relation to the potential of the earth has a grounded flexible metal body which is made up of an electrically conducting metal powder, which is placed in an envelope-like body and kept together as a flexible layer of homogeneous mass. A useful effect is produced if the envelope-like body is made up as a slip-proof body and/or if the metal powder is kept together as a vacuum-homogeneous mass.
Furthermore a useful effect is produced if the powdered metal is kept together as a flexible mass layer by permanent magnetization.
Furthermore, for producing the same effect, the powdered metal may be kept together as a flexible layer of mass by electrolytic coating or deposition.
A further useful effect is produced if the powdered metal is kept together as a flexible mass layer by vapor-coating.
The polarisation and compensation or equalizing apparatus may furthermore be usefully so designed that the grounding wire is joined up with a grounding system by way of magnet coupling contacts.
The envelope-like body of the invention full of the metal powder and having a rough (or slipproof) underside is placed on a bed or the like for the user and then the metal powder is grounded by a grounding wire using a magnetic coupling contact.
It will be seen that the invention is responsible for a soft, cushion-like envelope-like body as part of the apparatus, having the property of compensation or equalisation, in relation to the potential of the earth, of the bioelectric potential in the body of the user when resting on a bed or the like without any chance of the user's injuring himself or resting any less comfortably on the envelope-like body.
Because of the magnetic coupling contact on the grounding wire it is possible for a troublefree connection, which may be undone again readily, to be produced with a grounding system (such as a water pipe) without any need for any such system having to be specially put in by an electrician: In fact all that is needed is for the magnetic coupling contacts to be contacted or joined with a pipe or the like grounded to be at earth potential.
An account will now be given of one working example of the invention to be seen in the accompanying figures.
Figure 1 is a side view of a polarisation and compensation apparatus of the invention as supported on a bed.
Figure 2 is a cross-section through the support body of figure 1.
The polarisation and compensation apparatus 1 of the invention is made up of an envelope-like body 3, within which an electrically conducting metal powder is placed in the form of a flexible homogeneous layer or mass 2. This layer 2 is joined up with a grounding wire or cable whose free end is in turn joined up with a magnetic coupling contact 5 which may be joined up with an existing grounding system.
