Rocking horses. and cars.-A wheeled carriage for a rocking-horse, boat, or the like 29, Fig. 8, is provided with mechanism, independent of or in connection with the wheels of the carriage, to impart a variety of movements to the horse, boat, &c. The wheel axles 6, 7 are provided with cranks 4, 5 which carry connecting rods 1, which make a sliding fit at one end 3 with the crank 4. The wheels 9 may be fixed to the axles by means of removable pins 19, 20. Chain-wheels 15, 16 are secured to the axles and are connected together by chains 18 so that the axles may work in unison. Lugs 11, 12 on the rod 1 are secured to stays 30 on the horse &c., and a guide is provided for the rod 1. By manipulating the axles 6. 7, chains 18, and pins 19, 20, the rod 1 may be placed in a variety of positions, as in Fig. 6, for example, so that the horse performs the motions of prancing, kicking, &c., when the carriage is drawn along. The axles 6, 7 may be divided at their middles so that a sidewise rocking motion is imparted. The carriage may be supported on columns 24 and the crank 5 prevented from sliding in the slot 21 by means of a bifurcated member 22. so that the apparatus forms a stationaxy rocking-horse as shown in Fig. 6. The chain-wheels 15, 16 may be made integral with or secured to the wheels 9, so that the chains 18 need not be removed when it is not desired that the axles should operate in unison.
