Abstract

Free ends of a decorative strip 40, which is to be applied to an elongate receiving member 39 such as a vehicle bumper or fender, are securely inserted in respective recesses 42 in said receiving member 39. The remainder of the decorative strip 40 is stretched over a supporting sheet 44 of a transfer arrangement 38 and is brought by means of the transfer arrangement 38 into alignment with a groove in the receiving member 39. The sheet 44 is withdrawn and the strip 40 is kept registered with the groove by an inverted U-shaped strip member 43 so that the decorative strip 40 can be pressed into the groove. <IMAGE>
