Abstract

A golf belt is provided on its outside and along its length with receptacles adapted to carry the accessories necessary for playing the game, such as tees, balls, gloves and markers. <IMAGE>

Description

SPECIFICATION Golf belt This invention is concerned with a golf belt.
Apart from golf clubs and golf balls the golf player needs various accessories like tees, towel, golf glove, pitch mark remover, marker, pencil and score card. Up to now, the player carried these objects either in his golf bag or in the pockets of his clothing.
Consequently it has been a problem to have the accessories required for the game at hand when necessary. For example, it frequently happens that a player walks to the tee without the golf cart with the bag thereon, in which event he is without a tee or an extra ball and must go back to the cart in order to fetch the missing accessories. This causes the game to slow down and affects the condition and nerves of the player. Sometimes it occurs that while already on the course the player realizes that he is missing one of the above-mentioned accessories.
US Patent Specification No. 2,682,981 discloses a holder for golfing articles which has the general form of an elongated sheet member provided with an upper tunnel through which a strap or belt may be passed, and extending in a downward direction.
Thus the known holder is not an integral part of the belt which the player wears, and may therefore be inadvertently forgotten. Furthermore, because of its elongated, downwardly extending shape, this known holder may impede the movements of the player.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a golf belt which enables the player readily to carry with him all the above-mentioned accessories in such a manner that it is assured that all of them are readily available to him.
This object is achieved, according to the present invention, by a golf belt for carrying accessories required during golfing, characterized in that on the outside of the belt there are disposed along its length and adjacent to one another at least two of the following receptacles: a) a receptacle for at least one tee, b) a receptacle for at least one golf ball position marker, c) a receptacle for at least one pitch mark remover, d) a receptacle for at least one golf ball, e) a receptacle for a towel, f) a receptacle for a score card, g) a receptacle for a writing instrument, h) a receptacle for a glove.
These receptacles can, for example, be secured to the belt by loops, so that the player has the choice of which receptacle he wants to use. Alternatively, the receptacles are detachably or permanently affixed directly to the belt. Rivets can be used for affixation but sewing, gluing, or detachable affixation by means of snap-fasteners or adhesive strips or loop and hook strips are also considered suitable.
A golf belt according to the present invention will now be more fully described with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which: Fig. 1 shows a front view of the belt together with the receptacles.
Fig. 2 shows a front view and a plan view of the receptacles for the golf ball, the towel and the marker.
Fig. 3 shows a front view and a plan view of the receptacles for the score card and the pencil.
Fig. 4 shows a front view and a plan view of the receptacles for the tees and the pitch mark remover.
For a better understanding of the invention various accessories used in the game of golf, such as a tee, a marker and a pitch mark remover, will now be described. Atee is an object whereon a ball is placed comprising an upper surface and a tapered part pointing downwardly and ending in a tip. The tip of the tee is placed into the ground and subsequently the ball is placed upon the surface, about 1 cm above the ground. The marker is a circular disc of about the size of a penny and has a pointer in its centre. It serves to mark the position of the ball on the green.
The pitch mark remover is a bifurcated plate serving to level impact marks on the green caused by the ball.
Referring to the drawings, in Figs. 1 and 2 an elongated strip 2 is shown which rises in a wavy or serpentine line above the leather belt to be worn by a player. The elongated strip 2 is affixed to the belt 1 by rivets 6 at one end and between the crests of the strip. The centrally located pointers of the markers 7 are inserted from the top into slots provided in the upper edge of the strip. In section 3 there is a larger wave crest serving as a receptacle for a towel 8. The right hand end of the strip is affixed to the belt 1 by means of a snap fastener 5. Moreover, it is crossed by a further smaller strip 4 integrally connected therewith. These crossed sections are arranged in a semi-circular shape and serve for releasably receiving the golf ball 9, as is also shown in Fig. 2.Afurther snap fastener which is attached to the belt apart from the strip 2 serves for releasably affixing the golf glove. The left hand lower part of Fig. 1 shows a generally oblong receptacle 10 for receiving a score card 14 as well as a receptacle 11 for a pencil 13, see Fig. 3. The receptacle 10 is a generally rectangular pocket having a closed lower end, and pointing in an oblique direction relative to the horizontal belt. The upper edges of the pocket are cut obliquely with relation to the larger axis of the rectangle and are fastened to the belt in parallel to the horizontal direction. The receptacle for the pencil 13 is secured on top of the receptacle 10 and has a tube-like shape. It is tapered in a downward direction. It is arranged in the same oblique way as the pocket. In Figs. 1 and 4 there are depicted receptacles 12 for tees 15 and pitch mark remover 16.Again, these receptacles are comprised of a serpentine strip affixed to the belt by rivets at the wave hollows. The arrangement of the receptacle 12 is such that the tees as shown in Fig. 1 are situated above the lower rim of the belt. Otherwise the player would be irritated by these tips. The same has to be done with the pitch mark remover.
The sequence of the receptacles as shown can be varied according to different requirements. Preferably the receptacles are arranged at the circumference of the belt in the following way. The receptacles containing the ball, the towel and the marker are situated on the left hand side beginning with the markers at the left hip and stetching from there to the back. The receptacles for the tees and the pitch mark remover are located near the right hip. The pocket for the score card is also located on the right hand side between the aforementioned receptacle and the back. The snap fastener for the glove should then be arranged also on the right side between the tees and the score card.
Such a golf belt has the advantage that at all times the player carries with him all the accessories required for the game, without spoiling his pockets or causing damage to them by pointed objects. The belt is also independent of the golf bag, which is important in cases where the player carries only one or two clubs or carries the clubs in one of the wellknown portable frames. The golf belt, always equipped and to be worn like a normal belt, ensures that the player will not forget any of the abovementioned accessories.
It is of course preferable but not essential that the belt is provided with means for holding all of the accessories mentioned with reference to the preferred embodiment described above. Generally, means for supporting the tees, the markers and the pitch mark remover may be regarded as indispensable. A more elaborate belt may be provided further with means for holding a golf ball and towel. Then, the glove holding means and eventually the means for retaining the score card and pen may be provided. Also any other combination of two or more of the described accessory holding means or receptacles may be used within the scope of the invention.
