Abstract

206,278. Withers, J. S., (McCormick Drilling Tool Co.). Aug. 22, 1922. Bore-hole apparatus. - A fishing tool for removing objects from wells comprises a pair of jaws 3 mounted on a pivot pin 4 within a casing 2. Slidably mounted in the casing above the jaws is a member 5 formed with a pair of wedge-pieces 5<11> and adapted, when the tool is arrested by contact with the bottom of the well, to drop into engagement with the jaws and close them on to the object to be removed. The jaws are normally held open by spring plungers 9, Fig. 4, mounted in a casing, and the member 5 is normally held out of engagement with the jaws by spring plungers 11. Ribs 13 on the member 5 coact with grooves 12 in the easing to prevent rotation of the member.
