Abstract

204,727. Nordb÷hmische Industrie ges. Kunst Batik der Firma F. Preidl in B÷hm Kamnitz, and Klinger, R. March 23, 1922. Printing processes, intaglio plate printing ; rotary machines; inking-apparatus.-Fabrics are printed in imitation of Java " battiks " by means of an intaglio printing-surface of the kind having stepped ink-retaining depressions which are unbroken by cross hatchings or points. In printing some kinds of " battiks," the printing- surface may be provided longitudinally and transversely with variously coloured spots of ink or colour. The printing-roller 2, having an intaglio surface of the kind set out above, is inked by a roller 3 and duct roller 4 and is also provided with spots of colour by means of projections 8 on a roller 7 dipping into a trough 9 divided into compartments to receive inks of different colour. The roller 2 may be provided with a doctor between the rollers 3 and 7, and a doctor 21 is provided to blur the outlines of the colour spots. In another form of machine, the ink is applied to the roller 2 in strips of different colours by means of a number of endless bands dipping into a partitioned colour trough. In another form of machine, the colour spots are applied to the roller 2 by means of an endless band on to which the spots of colour are deposited by a number of rollers 7. The printing-roller may also be provided with finely divided spots of different colours by means of colour-spraying devices operated periodically.
