Abstract

Antimony oxide.-An timony oxide is prepared by blowing air into a bath of molten antimony and then stopping the heating, the bath being kept liquid by the heat of the reaction. The process mav be effected in an electric furnace f having resistances r and a wide outlet c for the fume. The outlet pipe is extended to form a bell b dipping into the bath so as to shut off a space d while the part e of the furnace is open to the air so as to allow of feeding in more antimony. Air is blown in by a pipe t. It is stated that other means of heating may be employed, for instance gas or liquid fuel inside the furnace.
