Abstract

Contacts.-Self-aligning contacts, particularly suitable for switches of the truck type, comprise one or more pairs of fingers 21 pressed apart by one or more springs 28 and loosely mounted on supporting members 14, shown partly cut away in the Figure, which are pivoted at 13 to the terminal 9 and are normally kept in alignment therewith by springs 19 acting on a bar 16 fixed to the members 14. Connection of the fingers 21 to the members 14 is effected by pins 26 carried by the members 14 engaging slots 27 in brackets 25 carried by the fingers. The fingers 21 are also connected directly to the terminal 9 by flexible leads 22. To provide for want of alignment of the fixed and movable terminals 1, 9 in a direction perpendicular to the paper, the fixed contacts 8 may be made wider than the fingers 21.
