Abstract
A suspension device for mounting a piece of furniture 2, 3, 4, on the wall, allowing an adjustment of the piece of furniture in height and in the direction normal to the wall. The suspension device comprises a casing 1 which is fixable in the piece of furniture 2, 3, 4 and a hook member 7, 8 which is mounted in said casing 1 by means of a cylinder part 6. The cylinder part 6 is rotatable, thereby altering the position of the hook 7, 8. <IMAGE>
Description
SPECIFICATION
A suspension device for wall-units or the like
The invention relates to a suspension device for wall-units or the like which has a casing that can be fastened to the interior of the wall-unit and a hook member which is mounted in said casing.
Suspension devices of the above-mentioned kind have been frequently used in modern furniture production. When fastening wall-units, shelves or the like to a wall, it is theirtaskto provide means for overcoming tolerances which may be caused when mounting the wall hook or a cleat. It is their particular task to allow a height-adjustment of the wall-unit. It is of further advantage, when the distance between the wall-unit and the wall can be adjusted in order to obtain a close fitting of the wall-unit onto the wall.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a suspension device of the above-mentioned kind which is simple in conception and allows improved adjustment because of an improved distribution of the load which has to be carried.
According to the invention this is achieved by mounting the hook member in the casing by means of a cylinder, a screw, which is mounted in said casing, engaging said cylinder, said cylinder being rotatable in said casing by means of said screw, the hook member in said cylinder being radially aligned.
It is preferably provided that the hook member is a screw spindle being mounted in a thread in the cylinder, whereby the outer surface of the cylinder is provided with an aperture through which the end of the hook member, which is directed away from the wall hook, projects. Said aperture can also be arranged in the extension of the hook member and allow an adjusting tool, e.g. a screwdriver, to be inserted.
The angular position of the hook member projecting from the outer surface of the cylinder can be changed by turning the cylinder, thus lifting or lowering the wall-unit in respect of the wall hook.
It is preferably provided that the screw is mounted in the casing and rests with its inner end against a stop being provided on the cylinder. The outer end projects through an aperture in the casing and has a slit, for example, for inserting a screwdriver.
It is further preferably provided that the screw is at least almost parallel to a tangent of the cylinder. In order to keep the hook member almost in its correct position right from the start, an advantageous embodiment provides, that projections are disposed on the outer surface of the cylinder, which extend between stops of the casing, said projections and said stops forming together a limitation for the rotational movement of the cylinder. The hook member can, thus, more easily engage a supporting means on the wall, as the hook member cannot fall down inside the wall-unit.
An embodiment, which is preferable in respect of production, provides that the casing and/or the cylinder are made of plastics and that the screw and/or hook member are mounted in metal nuts being retained in the plastics material. The cylinder is retained in the casing by means of a ring projection on the cylinder, said projection extending into a groove in the casing.
In the following the invention will be described in more detail by means of the figures of the drawing without being limited thereto.
Figure I shows a schematic sectional view of a suspension device in accordance with the present invention,
Figure 2 shows a view in the direction of arrow A offigure 1,
Figure 3 shows a view in the direction of arrow B offigure 1,
Figure 4 shows a sectional view along line IV-IV of figure 1, and
Figure 5 shows a sectional view along line V-V of figure 1.
The suspension device in accordance with the present invention comprises a casing 1, which is mounted in the wall-unit on the side wall 3 below the top panel 2 and on the rear panel 4. The casing 1 thereby supports the top panel 2 and is fixed to the side wall 3 by means of screws 5.
A cylinder 6 is circumferentially mounted in the casing 1. A hook member 7 is mounted in the cylinder 6.
The hook member 7 is a screw spindle which comprises a plate 8 disposed on the end directed towards the wail and projects through the rotation axis of the cylinder 6.
The hook member 7 is retained in the cylinder 6 by means of a nut 9.
The cylinder 6 and the casing 1 have recesses 10 on that side of the hook member which is directed away from the wall, said recesses allowing a screwdriver to be inserted for adjusting the hook member 7. By turning the hook member 7, the space between the wall-unit and the wall is reduced or increased.
On the right top side the cylinder 6 has a stop 11 which rests on the end of the screw 12, when load hangs on the suspension device. The screw 12, which is in at least almost parallel alignment with a tangent of the cylinder 6, is mounted in a thread in the casing 1. Said thread is carried by a nut 13. By turning the screw 12, the cylinder 6 is turned into the direction of double arrow H, whereby the height adjustment of the suspension device is effected.
In the embodiment the cylinder 6 has projections 14 extending between counter stops of the casing 1 and, thus, limiting the rotational movement of the cylinder. The stops of the casing are the side walls of recesses 15.
A recess 16 is provided on that side of the casing which is directed towards the rear panel 4 of the wall-unit, the dimension of said recess being adapted to allow a height adjustment of the hook member 7.
On the opposite side, the recess 10 in the casing is adapted to give access to the screw 12 as well as to the hook member 7.
The projections 14 preferably form parts of a ring projection and the recesses 15 preferably form nut portions, whereby the cylinder 6 is by simple means secured to the casing 1.
