Chain pumps.-The liquidraising elements carried by the chain 2, 3 consist of flat-coiled metal members 1, held in position by tiepins 8 mounted in lugs 6 on the chain. Two or more sets of coils may be used. In the form shown in Fig. 9, the coils are replaced by flat strips or plates made up of straight or cross wires. The links 2, 3 of the carrier may be provided with flanges to increase the adherence of the chain to the driving pulley.
