Abstract

Manufacturing a layered article by adhering together at the base member/foam sheet interface a base member (4) to which adhesive (5) has been applied and a previously prepared laminated sheet (3) consisting of a cover sheet (1) and a foam sheet (2). The layered article produced, in which the foam sheet (2) is between the cover sheet (1) and the base member (4), can be a motor vehicle instrument panel. The laminated sheet (3) can be initially prepared as a flat sheet which is placed between dies (A,B) with the already-shaped base member (4) whereafter pressure is applied to bring the laminated sheet (3) and the base member (4) into full surface- to-surface contact. Alternatively the laminated sheet (3) can be preformed to a desired shape before being placed between the dies (A,B). A need for effecting a foam expansion moulding operation is avoided. <IMAGE>
