Vacuum tubes.- Lamp black or other carbonaceous material is placed on a leading-in wire, and a metallic oxide, e.g. manganese oxide or black copper oxide, is placed elsewhere in the container, and the tube is aged by the application of direct current, whereby the carbonaceous material is heated and combines with residual oxygen in the container.
