Abstract

A cartridge mechanism includes an enclosure for receiving a cartridge 62 containing a circuit element 66 which defines a plurality of electrical contact surfaces 68. A base member is provided which is pivotably connected to the enclosure and defines a recess to receive the enclosure. Locating pins 44 and an electrical connector 48 including a plurality of contact elements 52 are secured to the base member. Electrical connection is made between the contact surfaces 68 of a cartridge 62 and the contact elements 52 of the connector 48 by inserting the cartridge 62 in the enclosure and then pivoting the enclosure into the recess defined by the base member, thereby locating the cartridge 62 on the locating pins 44 and bringing the cartridge 62 into contact with the connector 48. <IMAGE>
