Abstract
A parking brake actuating mechanism for use with a vehicle drum brake assembly 1 includes an actuation member 12 pivotally mounted at 15 on one brake shoe 2 and a link member 13 pivotally mounted at 17 on the other brake shoe 3 and the actuation member 12 and the link member 13 are pivotally connected together at 16. When the actuation member 12 is rotated by a force F the link member 13 is moved thereby moving brake shoe 3 into engagement with the brake drum 10. Further rotation of member 12 moves shoe 2 into engagement with the brake drum 10. In the embodiment of Figures 3-5, rotation of actuation member 47 is brought about by a cam element 51 formed on a crankshaft member 46. The brake assembly may include service brake actuating means e.g. wheel cylinders 31,32. <IMAGE>
