Abstract

A suction head (1) is secured to a housing (12) which defines a plenum chamber (17) having an inlet duct (18) through which liquid or solid material is entrained and a sealing surface (20), e.g. of foamed plastics, which can seal against a variety of containers (3) positioned to receive the entrained material which falls out of the chamber via aperture (15). Power to suction-producing fan (8) continues while a flap-valve (10) is open; as container (3) is filled a float (25) rises until aperture (6) is closed by valve member (22), whereupon filling ceases, and flap-valve (10) closes to cut off power to fan (8). <IMAGE>
