Abstract

A female electrical contact element is made from a metal blank cut and bent to form a member of channel cross-section with two flanges 2, 3 and a web 4. One end comprises means 14 for connection to an electrical conductor 28 while the other end comprises a resilient grip constituted by a curved extension 5, 6 of each flange, convex towards each other, to receive a flat 17, 18 male contact 31. The web is prolonged by two tongues 17, 18 which in the vicinity of their free ends are bent transversely to the web in such a manner that one of the edges 23 of each of said tongues extends transversely to the corresponding curved extension and cooperates with the concave face thereof to maintain the contact pressure. <IMAGE>
