Abstract

A method for producing relief images, for example of monumental brasses. Brass rubbings can then be taken from the relief image, to save wear and tear on the original brass. The image is photographically reproduced on a plate having a photopolymerisable polyamide layer. This layer is then selectively etched (developed) to produce a first relief image, which can be used directly, after coating with a metal layer. Alternatively, it can be used as a mold, to produce either the desired final image, or in a preferred embodiment to produce an intermediate mould e.g. of silicone rubber or glass fibre reinforced plastics, from which the final relief image is cold cast or moulded, e.g. using an epoxy or polyester resin which optionally contains metal dust.
