Abstract

A metal working lubricant comprises an oil component and oil- insoluble particulate material having a maximum particle size of up to 50 millicrons, said particles being spherical or of spheroid or otherwise rounded shape. The oil component may include a mineral oil, a fatty oil, a fat, a polar substitute for a fatty oil and may be a blend of two or more of these. The particulate material is preferably pyrogenic silica.
