Abstract

201,728. Ayers, J. T. July 4, 1922. Felts.-In apparatus for washing and drying paper machine felts, which may be used during the operation of the machine, a suction box, having two compartments 17, 18, which may be under different degrees of suction, is mounted to slide towards and away from the felt 27 under the action of cams 14, and above the felt are provided pipes 23, 22, 21, 20, for spraying hot soapy water, cold water, steam, and air. The treatment with water, steam, and air, may be used once or oftener each day, and the soap wash added once or more each week.
